QIAGEN Digital Insights — tools for NGS and genomics

QIAGEN Digital Insights is the QIAGEN division focused on bioinformatics and the clinical interpretation of genomic data. The portfolio covers the path from raw NGS data to a clinically actionable output. It includes tools for data analysis (CLC Workbench), variant interpretation (Franklin, QCI Interpret) and expert-curated databases (HGMD, HSMD, COSMIC). QIAGEN Digital Insights tools are used by more than 4,000 organisations worldwide.

  • 4,000+ Organisations worldwide
  • 575,000+ Curated mutations in HGMD
  • 2.24M Somatic variants in HSMD
  • 32M Genomic variants in COSMIC
About

From data to clinical decision

QIAGEN Digital Insights is the bioinformatics division of QIAGEN. It was built through successive acquisitions of CLC bio, Ingenuity and N-of-One, and in 2025 the portfolio expanded to include the Franklin platform (acquisition of Genoox). The aim is to cover the entire process from raw NGS data to clinical interpretation without having to combine tools from different vendors.

The portfolio rests on three pillars. Tools for clinical practice (Franklin, QCI Interpret) help diagnostic labs classify variants quickly and accurately and create clinical reports. Research tools (CLC Workbench, IPA) are used for NGS data analysis without coding and for data integration in translational research. Reference databases (HGMD, HSMD, COSMIC) are expert-curated resources that both of the other tool groups draw on.

Focus & applications

Where QIAGEN Digital Insights is used

Clinical diagnostics

Variant interpretation for hereditary disease, oncology (solid tumours, haematology, liquid biopsy) and preconception screening. Variant classification according to ACMG guidelines, with traceable evidence and sources.

Oncology and targeted therapy

Analysis of somatic variants from FFPE samples and liquid biopsy, matching with targeted therapy options, supporting material for tumour boards, HRD and MSI assessment. The clinical report for the oncologist is ready within minutes.

Hereditary disease

Analysis of germline variants from WES and WGS in rare disease diagnostics. Expert-curated HGMD content, together with insights from the expert community, helps shorten the path to diagnosis.

Translational research & drug discovery

CLC Workbench with predefined analysis workflows, IPA for pathway analysis and the HSMD and COSMIC databases are commonly used in pharmaceutical research and development.
