Opentrons is a US manufacturer of liquid-handling robots for laboratories. The portfolio consists of two platforms, Flex and OT-2, together with modules, pipettes and tips. Protocols are written in Python or assembled in a graphical editor. 3GENES adds its own protocols, service and application support.
Opentrons is a US company founded in 2015. It makes liquid-handling robots for laboratories that need automation but do not want a closed system from a single vendor. Its robots now run in more than 10,000 laboratories in 100+ countries.
The ecosystem consists of two platforms and the modules that connect to them: a thermocycler, heater-shaker, magnetic block and temperature module. Protocols are written with the Python API or assembled in the Protocol Designer graphical editor. Ready-made protocols for common methods are freely available in the Opentrons Protocol Library.

OT-2 detailsAn open platform only makes sense with the protocols that will run on it. There are three things we provide for Opentrons ourselves.
We have developed automated protocols for Twist Bioscience library preparation and for the OncoDNA OncoDEEP and Hedera Dx Profiling panels. We deliver each protocol as a Python script with documentation. If you need a protocol that is not in the Opentrons Protocol Library, we can create it for you.
Our own service engineer covers the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Installation, preventive maintenance and repairs are handled on site in your laboratory, with no waiting for a technician to come from abroad.
Our application specialists have completed certification training directly with Opentrons. We train your team, verify the workflow on your samples and help you choose a configuration.
We can advise on choosing between Flex and OT-2, configuring modules and designing a protocol for your method. We already have several installations and can show you the robot in action.
